€20,95
This Vouvray Demi-Sec, is a semi-sweet wine that is intense yellow in color with silver reflections in it. This wine has a soft sweet tone that is nicely balanced after which we return to a dry tone in the form of fine acidity. The slight sweetness in the wine allows combinations with duck liver as well as oriental dishes
Domaine d'Orfeuilles dates back to 1947 and comprises 20 hectares of vineyards with an average age of 30 years. The vineyards are located in the communes of Chancay and Reugny in the heart of Vouvray. The current owner is Arnaud Herivault, grandson of the founder. Only Vouvray is made there. The soil consists of clay, calcareous clay and flint 'flint'. Average production per year is about 1,100 hectoliters and consists of vouvray sec, moelleux and sometimes liquoreux. The vineyards are farmed ecologically. Harvesting takes place between late September and late October; selectively cutting grape bunches at a time, depending on the type of wine to be made. These are brought to the cellars in small quantities and poured into the cuves. This is done without mechanical aids to avoid damaging the grapes and thus premature oxidation. There is traditional and very meticulous work at all stages of the process here to ensure the vaunted quality of the wine.
